LUCKY PETERSON @ Massy

Blues concert "Tribute to Jimmy Smith".

Some twenty years back, the young and promising bluesman Lucky Peterson had set Paul B. on fire. Since then, time has passed but admittedly Lucky has preserved his reputation of a generous and genuine showman. Thousands of concerts later, he is back with a new album as a tribute to Jimmy Smith. His new show being more jazz than blues doesn't bother us at all, and it sure will be filled with feeling and good vibrations on stage. Just one question: he who plays the Hammond organ and the guitar will he drop the latter to devote himself only to his keyboards? To find out, save the date for this promising moment of musicality!

Concert as part of the 4th edition of the "Lac in Blue Festival".

A proposal by the Jazz Club in partnership with Bonlieu Scène Nationale.

Emblematic figure of the Blues and while he is about to celebrate 40 years in showbusiness, singer guitar-hero and organist Lucky Peterson comes back with a splendid project: a tribute to his first master and mentor, mythical organist Jimmy Smith. Musical genius, child prodigy in his day, he carries all the intensity and spirituality of his music rooted in blues, with influences of gospel but also what we are in the habit of calling "black music", at the crossroads between funk, rock and jazz. An unstoppable groove!

LUCKY PETERSON @ Voiron Jazz Festival

Concert as part of the 8th edition of the "Voiron Jazz Festival".

First of all an organist, Lucky Peterson quickly established himself as an excellent musician in the field of blues, also on guitar and vocals! Willie Dixon takes him under his wing when he is five years old. With "Tribute to Jimmy Smith", he pays homage to the jazz master of the Hammond organ whose music is greatly influenced by gospel and blues and who has been his teacher. Surrounded by great names in jazz, he rises to the challenge as the swing and groove of Jimmy Smith's organ ruled over jazz in the 60s. With Lucky Peterson, the blues finds a new energy. On stage, he shatters musical borders and explores funk, soul, rock ans jazz. Explosive!

LUCKY PETERSON @ Ollioules

Blues concert "Tribute to Jimmy Smith".

Blues holds no secrets for Lucky Peterson since he was hanging around his father's club, the Governor's Inn in Buffalo. There, in his element, the child prodigy has made the blues fundamental message his own, the scansion of words, the haunting melodies with hypnotic rhythms. His entire life is a hymn to blues that he still preaches today relentlessly, and his new album "Tribute to Jimmy Smith" is a living proof again. Brilliant. With his band, the artist proposes a jazz tinged with soul and blues. A music that grooves! For this tribute to the organist Jimmy Smith, he plays exclusively the Hammond B-3 organ: all the more reason to remember that he is an exceptional pianist, a flamboyant guitarist, a singer bursting with feeling, a charismatic showman, a composer and arranger... full of talent.

LUCKY PETERSON @ Courbevoie

Blues concert "Tribute to Jimmy Smith".

After the remarkable "The Son of a Bluesman" and "Live in Marciac", the new album of the American bluesman Lucky Peterson at Jazz Village is already an important and indispensable disc in his lush discography. The reason for this is twofold. First of all, Lucky Peterson plays exclusively with the Hammond B-3 organ and favors instrumental pieces, and then he proposes a particularly compact instrumentation (an organ-guitar-drums trio, sometimes with the addition of a trumpet or a saxophone) through a repertoire clearly oriented towards jazz, in tribute to the great organist Jimmy Smith.

HAKIM HAMADOUCHE

Carte blanche to Hakim Hamadouche for 2 exceptional concerts.

Hakim Hamadouche is the man who has been playing the electric mandolute behind Rachid Taha for years. A veteran of Marseilles musical venues, Hamadouche is not only an exceptional partner (Têtes Raides, Tricky): a mandolute virtuoso, an efficient singer, he also knows how to restyle the musical traditions of his country of origin, Algeria, explore mixed zones - as with Oriental Fusion, group created with percussionnist Ahmad Compaoré and saxophonist Edmond Hosdikian -, or leave in endless improvisations with other musical pirates such as Sam Karpienia. A punk spirit for rebel musics.
